Message I made the spreadsheet below for comparing the stock shock/springs to a BC Racing coilover setup with custom springs that I made. You can see that although the stock shocks have more travel capability, most of this travel exists only in extreme droop situations. This much droop would only come into play if the car were, more or less, off the ground.

To me, the term "bouncy" used by the OP would mean the dampers are not "damping" the suspension movement.
